dream tree

“Dream Tree” was created from my sense of awe when I see the vivid colours found in nature. Sometimes I see a sunset or a bright green moss and think it is so magical that this is a natural creation. I feel that same excitement when I see a sheet of stained glass with magical colours. I imagined this tree complete with the colour combination before finding the glass. Tracking down the glass made this dream come true. The design is drawn by hand to scale and then each piece is traced on paper to create a puzzle of pattern pieces. Each pattern piece is matched with just the right texture and colour. The pattern is traced on the glass, the glass is cut and ground. Once every piece is in place I copper foil each one and then the lead and patina are added. This piece is quite heavy as it required three rolls of lead to complete. It is professionally framed by Phillip K Wood. The finished measurement is 21″ x 29 1/2″
