The Ottawa Miniature Gallery ("OMG") was created as part of a city funded temporary public art project in 2022. As a mentee with Seattle based Third Way Creative, Jennifer Kelly designed a 6.5 foot tall miniature art gallery with, twelve rooms, lighting and a steel and glass cap reminiscent of the roofline of the National Art Gallery. Jennifer chose to play on the idea that anything miniature is less intimidating and enticing to all demographics. By offering miniature art space to everyone in the community and then installing the gallery in unexpected and varied locations throughout the city, art becomes more accessible to all. To date more than 150 artists, both established and emerging, have participated in miniature exhibits. There is no jury, every person who wants to participate is welcome; further subverting the traditional gallery experience. There is currently no funding for operating the OMG. Jennifer continues to exhibit for the community on a zero dollar budget and volunteer time.

๐Ÿ’™ Special thanks to The City of Ottawa & Third Way Creative ๐ŸŽจ

Ottawa Miniature Gallery was created in conjunction with the Reflection / Inflection Arts Response Project's Public Art Accelerator - Community Engaged Art Project and by the City of Ottawa O-Train Public Art Program.

What was intended as a temporary installation has become an ongoing pop up experience for communities across Ottawa. So far, more than 100 artists have participated by creating a miniature for exhibit and the structure has visited ten different locations.

๐ŸŽŠ The OMG is now a volunteer effort, run on a budget of zero dollars ๐Ÿ™Œ
